John O'Flynn hit the winner from the penalty spot as City moved past Shels into second place with this vital win.

O'Flynn was brought down on 48 minutes and dusted himself down to score from the spot.

Shortly afterwards Shels were reduced to ten men when Jim Gannon was sent off.

George O'Callaghan had given City the lead on 16 minutes after Steve Williams parried his initial shot.

Stephen Geoghegan got Shels back into the game when scoring from a Richie Baker cross on 22 minutes.
