Come Out Fighting is set for a spell on the sidelines after breaking a blood vessel at Newbury last weekend.

The four-year-old finished well out of the frame, despite being sent off favourite for a competitive handicap event at the Berkshire venue.

Although he is entered for the Group Three Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday, Paul Blockley has ruled his charge out of the race.

“He doesn’t run on Saturday as he bled at Newbury and he’s just going to have a bit of time off,” said Blockley.

“He’s fine in himself but we’re just going to give him a break and be kind to him now.”
