Teachers are reassuring parents that any strike action over Croke Park 2 won't affect the summer exams.
The three main teacher unions are threatening industrial action if the government goes ahead with more changes to their pay and conditions.
The ASTI, INTO and TUI will each vote next month on whether to proceed with strike action.
General Secretary of the ASTI, Pat King, says the action will not happen before the summer, so parents should not be concerned about disruption to Junior or Leaving Cert exams.
But he says teachers have had enough.
"There's no point in waiting until the government has decided. We are going to ballot our members and there is going to be a clear indication from them that the government must adhere to the agreement they made with us two years ago."
If they don't, we will respond appropriately."
