British Prime Minister Tony Blair has called for an end to the internal UDA feud which has already claimed the lives of four men.

The violent dispute boiled over last week when former supporters of Johnny Adair invaded his west Belfast stronghold and evicted anyone still loyal to the renegade 'C' Company commander.

The move, which was ordered by the UDA inner council, led to seven car-loads of Adair's followers, including his family and his close associate John White, fleeing to Scotland.

Mr Blair said the loyalists involved in the feud and the communities they come from should reject "criminal gangsterism" and embrace a proper form of political dialogue.
