Varadkar: Government has too much control over Dáil

A cabinet minister has admitted that the government has too much control over the Dáil.

Leo Varadkar said that TDs are not given enough powers to effectively do their jobs as lawmakers.

He was commenting as the Dáil debated a bill from Fianna Fáíl which would clamp down on drivers in hit-and-run accidents.

AUDIO: Minister Varadkar said that everyone in the Dáil should have their fair say, irrespective of what party they are in.
