Cloud computing firm announces more than 100 jobs
More than 100 jobs are being created by a pioneering cloud computing firm.
Salesforce.com said it is looking for qualified professionals in sales, marketing, IT and customer support functions for its European hub in Dublin.
Recently recognised by Forbes as the world’s most innovative company and one of the best places to work, salesforce.com is one of the global technology industry’s fastest growing companies.
Steve Garnett, regional chairman, said the firm is driving a massive transformation in the technology industry, showing companies the power of social and mobile cloud computing.
“Ireland has played a key role in our success and we are delighted to be able to expand our reach in the region through the creation of an additional 100 jobs,” he said.
“We are actively looking for talented individuals to join us as we help more companies transform into social enterprises.”
The expansion is supported by IDA Ireland, which described the firm – based in Dublin since 2000 – as a pioneer of cloud computing.
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton said the Government is targeting high-growth companies and high-growth sectors as part of its action plan for jobs.
“I am determined to ensure that we continue to take advantage of our ICT strengths to attract more investments and create the jobs we need,” he added.
Elsewhere another 125 jobs were secured when the Irish management team of Celtic Media Group acquired the business and assets of the group for €5.5m.
The group’s portfolio includes the Anglo-Celt, Meath Chronicle, Westmeath Examiner, Westmeath Independent, Offaly Independent and Forum, a Co Meath-based publication, while it prints several national titles at its plant near Navan, Co Meath.
It was previously owned by Scottish-based investors including Dunfermline Press.
Frank Mulrennan, chief executive of the new management team, said: “Our group has consistently generated operating profits in the teeth of the recession but it suffered from a legacy debt burden that was unsustainable.
“This burden has been addressed fully and the group now has a financial structure that is appropriate to face the ongoing challenges presented by the current business environment.
“We are dedicated to positioning our company to benefit from our exciting multi-platform digital strategy and from further consolidation in the regional media market, which we feel is inevitable.”
