The organisers of the Special Olympics are confident teams who have been delayed due to visa problems will arrive ahead of the event, that opens this Saturday.

More than 7,000 athletes are taking part in the Special Olympics, the majority of whom have already arrived.

However, teams from Ghana, Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso in Africa have been delayed due to trouble with their travel documents.

Although their documents to enter Ireland appear to be in order, it's believed their transit visas, allowing them to travel through other countries, caused delays.
