Real Madrid to arrive in Ireland today

Spanish football giants Real Madrid will arrive in Ireland today for a pre-season training camp.

Spanish football giants Real Madrid will arrive in Ireland today for a pre-season training camp.

The club is due to fly into Dublin Airport this evening for the 10-day session that will include a sell-out friendly game against Dublin squad Shamrock Rovers.

Expectations are high that the world’s most expensive player Cristiano Ronaldo could make his debut for the club in the Irish game.

The 24-year-old superstar transferred to the Spanish side at the beginning of the month from Manchester United in a record £80m deal.

But Irish sports management company Platinum One said it would not be known whether Ronaldo would make it to Ireland until later today.

The squad will stay and train at Carton House in Co Kildare throughout the trip.

Real will play Shamrock Rovers at their south Dublin stadium in Tallaght this day week in a sell-out game, with fans hoping to see footballing legends such as Ronaldo and other newly-signed recruit, Brazilian Kaka.

Security is expected to be tight at Dublin Airport when the squad arrive.

The first training session will take place tomorrow morning.
