An elderly man is recovering in hospital this morning following an explosion at his home in Glanmire in Cork.
Gardai, along with three units of the city fire brigade, are at the scene of the fire, which is believed to have been caused by a gas explosion.
The house has been very badly damaged following the explosion, the cause of which is under investigation. It is feared that an oxygen tank, which was stored in the kitchen of the house, may be at the root of the incident.
An elderly man was rushed from the scene by ambulance to Cork University hospital. It is understood he only suffered minor injuries in the incident.
