An Israeli woman has been shot dead and her husband seriously wounded in a drive-by shooting near Tekoah, a Jewish settlement in the West Bank.

The couple were in their car when suspected Palestinian militants opened fire on them from a passing vehicle.

The couple’s three children, who were in the back of the car, were unhurt.

The shooting has cast doubt over renewed efforts to restart peace talks and have threatened an informal ceasefire declared two days ago following pressure from the United States.
