The ISEQ index of Irish shares closed up 31.86 points at 2,918.23 this evening, a rise of 1.1%.
Index majors on the rise included Kerry Group, up 97c to €21.42; Paddy Power, lifting 42c to €25.75; Kingspan, up 31c to €6.46, and Smurfit Kappa, adding 15c to €5.85.
Aer Lingus fell 1c to €0.55 amid plans to press ahead with compulsory job cuts as part of its restructuring plan, while rival Ryanair gained 12c to €2.94 as November traffic figures showed a 15% rise.
Among financial stocks, AIB was unchanged at €1.59, Bank of Ireland added 6c to €1.70 and Irish Life & Permanent added 20c to €3.50.
Fallers included Tullow Oil, down 33c to €13.95; Aryzta, 22c off at €25.58 and FBD, down 7c to €6.73.
