Slobodan Milosevic’s daughter was arrested today for shooting a pistol into the air during the former Yugoslav president’s arrest in April.

Marija Milosevic, 32, was charged with public endangerment and illegal handgun possession. If found guilty, she faces up to three years in prison.

Belgrade prosecutors allege she fired her gun when government officials came to take him to prison to face corruption charges, ending a 26 hour siege at his luxury villa.

She said at the time that she was ‘‘distraught about her father being taken away’’ and that she had consumed a full bottle of cognac on an empty stomach before firing the shots.

Though she had the proper permits for the gun she used, she was also charged with carrying a second, unlicensed revolver.
