Ireland face uphill battle in PGA Europe Team C'ship
Ireland have an uphill battle during the last round in the PGA of Europe Team Championship at Atalaya Park if they hope to overhaul defending champions and overnight leaders Spain.
The Irish remain in seventh place at level par 432 - 12 shots behind Spain with the final 18 holes to play tomorrow.
The Irish returned a best-two-of-three cards 145 from the third round with Brendan McGovern posting a one-under-71 while Leslie Walker and John Dwyer both had 74s.
"I scrambled round in one under par. It looked like being two or three over until I birdied three of the last five holes," explained McGovern, the captain of the Irish team.
Leslie Walker had three sixes in his round and also four three-putts. John Dwyer couldn't get his putter working either.
Scotland and England, disputing second place at the start of the third day, were left trailing by defending champions Spain. Thirty-one teams are taking part in the championship that is supported by the Ryder Cup Committee.
