Longford minor boss Jimmy Gacquin has told his jubilant defenders: "You're my unsung heroes."

After beating Leitrim on the weekend, Longford are now just two games away from a first-ever All-Ireland title.

With 20 goals under their belt this year Gacquin said: "It¹s great to be getting the scores but I was a defender and I notice the work those lads are doing too.

"It would be unfair to isolate one player over another because they¹ve all been doing brilliant, defenders, midfielders and forwards. Long may it last."
