Traffic delays on the M9 motorway around Kilcullen in County Kildare are beginning to ease this evening.

Traffic delays on the M9 motorway around Kilcullen in County Kildare are beginning to ease this evening.

The northbound lanes have been closed to motorists for the past day after a tanker carrying vegetable oil overturned close to the N7 interchange.

AA Roadwatch said that tailbacks are now down to 3km. Northbound motorists coming from Carlow or Athy are being advised to divert via Kildare or Portlaoise.

People travelling south should divert via Naas or Newbridge.
