Gardaí have issued traffic advice for motorists in Dublin to facilitate the Special Olympics closing ceremony, which takes place tonight at Croke Park.

Gardaí have issued traffic advice for motorists in Dublin to facilitate the Special Olympics closing ceremony, which takes place tonight at Croke Park.

Tens of thousands of spectators are expected to witness the event and gardaí are asking motorists to avoid certain areas of the city from 3pm this afternoon in order to ensure the free movement of thousands of athletes to and from the venue.

The key areas for motorists to avoid are Beresford Place, Amiens Street, Portland Row, Summerhill Parade, Clonliffe Road, Malahide Road, Fairview Strand and Popular Row.

The gates at Croke Park will be open from 4.15pm with the ceremony commencing at a 7.15pm.
