Coronation Street favourite David Neilson has ditched Roy Cropper for Roy Orbison in a Stars In Their Eyes special.
The cafe boss plays the late Pretty Woman singer in a soap stars special to be screened on Saturday.
Neilson is joined by the Street’s Suranne Jones (who plays Karen McDonald) who appears as a Chicago-style Catherine Zeta Jones.
The actress makes a return to Stars In Their Eyes – she last appeared as Madonna.
“I just wanted to come back and try someone very different,” she said.
Neilson was cajoled into appearing after he popped along to see show host Matthew Kelly at the theatre, and mentioned an ambition to play Orbison.
“This is the last time I tell Matthew I can sing like someone else – I mention it once and now look where I am,” he said.
Also on the show is Jonathan Wrather, who played the Street’s scheming Joe Carter. He will appear as smoothie Harry Connick Junior.
Emmerdale’s Emily Symons, who plays Woolpack landlady Louise Appleton, will be Rosemary Clooney.
And Richard Fleeshman, Corrie schoolboy Craig Harris, steps through the dry ice as Pop Idol Will Young.
