Positive early trading for ISEQ

The Irish Stock Exchange enjoyed an upbeat morning’s trading today, gaining 28.03 points to 9606.04 by midday.

The Irish Stock Exchange enjoyed an upbeat morning’s trading today, gaining 28.03 points to 9606.04 by midday.

A positive trading statement from Irish Life & Permanent at the institution’s agm today saw the bank’ shares soar 38c to €19.80. The rest of the financials did moderately well, with Bank of Ireland performing best, up 10c to €16.42. Allied Irish Bank (up 4c to €22.43) and Anglo Irish Bank (up 2c to €16.38) enjoyed modest gains.

There was some strong growth in the construction sector, with Grafton climbing 20c to €11.70. Kingspan (up 15c to €21.20) and CRH (up 12c to €34.50) were not far behind.

DCC saw the biggest gain of the day, jumping 45c to €25.40. The only significant loss was endured by FBD, which shed 20c to €39.25.
