Five men remain in garda custody this morning in relation to a fatal shooting in Co Meath yesterday.

Five men remain in garda custody this morning in relation to a fatal shooting in Co Meath yesterday.

Father of three, Peter Butterly from Dunleer in Co Louth, was shot dead at around half two as he sat in a car outside the Huntsman Inn bar near Gormanstown.

It is believed the victim had links to dissident republican activity.

Four men were arrested at the scene of the shooting while a fifth man was arrested shortly afterwards.

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
