A senior executive at Independent News and Media has secured a temporary High Court injunction prohibiting his employers from taking any further steps to terminate his employment.
Lawyers for the Director of Corporate Affairs and Content Development, Karl Brophy, claim he was told he was being let go because a new regime was in place and recent coverage of Denis O'Brien had gone too far.
However the court heard he was notified in a letter received on Wednesday that his employment was terminated by reason of redundancy.
It is also claimed by Mr Brophy that members of the board were involved in malicious and unlawful leaking of private and confidential information about his position to the media.
Today, only lawyers for Mr Brophy were in the court which will have an opportunity to hear INM's side when the case returns on Tuesday.
