The Dáil is due to hold a debate today on the three reports published last week in the wake of the breast cancer misdiagnosis scandal at the Midland Regional Hospital.
The reports were highly critical of breast cancer services at the hospital in Portlaoise, where nine women were wrongly given the all-clear for the disease after undergoing mammograms.
Yesterday, the Taoiseach accepted in the Dáil that there were weaknesses in the administration of cancer treatment.
His Government is due to table a motion today supporting planned reforms, including the establishment of a small number of specialist centres of excellence to replace the existing cancer treatment system.
