Walsh and Egan search for new girl group

Pop impresario Louis Walsh and Westlife’s Kian Egan are searching for a new girl group to hit the charts, it was revealed today.

The music men plan to find five talented females during open auditions in Dublin in the coming weeks.

Westlife manager Walsh, who brought Kian and the boys fame and fortune, is, with Kian, hunting for new raw talent that will soar to the top of the charts.

The home grown new girl group will be co-managed by the Irish men.

Kian, who is engaged to former 'Hollyoaks' actress Jodi Albert, told budding pop stars to take a chance and go for it.

“I am really hoping we are going to see and hear some great talent from all parts of the country,” he said.

“I know how much an audition like this can change your life – so my advice is to go for it.”

Louis, who is currently recording a fourth series of 'The X Factor', said they were looking for a five piece girl group between the ages of 15 and 25.

Open auditions will take place in The Pod, Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, on Friday July 25 and Saturday July 26 from midday to 6pm – the same venue where Louis auditioned both Boyzone and Westlife.

Hopeful band members will be asked to sing a cappella (without instruments) and call backs will be on Sunday July 27.

Louis, who started in the music business in a show band promoter’s office in Dublin, has been instrumental in finding and managing some of the most successful pop bands/groups around including Boyzone, Westlife, and Girls Aloud.

He remains one of the most respected names in the music industry with his groups achieving a staggering 28 number one hits to date.

Meanwhile, Westlife holds the record for having the most consecutive number one singles, boasting 13 UK number ones singles and six number one selling albums.

Organiser and publicist Joanne Byrne said the audition was a great opportunity for all girls out there that would love to be in a girlband.

“My advice to any girl that comes to The Pod to audition is simple,” she added.

“Know what you are going to sing, learn the lyrics and put some thought into your appearance.”
