Luke Lucas “broke down” during ‘X Factor’ auditions at Judges’ Houses.

The 16-year-old singer sobbed after he messed up the words to one of the songs he was performing for mentor Gary Barlow and his assistant, Take That bandmate Robbie Williams, leaving him worried he had blown his chances of progressing further in the competition.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "He found the pressure really difficult.

"He messed up one of his songs then started crying when he feared he had blown his chance. Gary and Robbie were really worried."

Meanwhile, in the Girls category, both Amelia Lily and Janet Devlin proved a hit with mentor Kelly Rowland and assistant Jennifer Hudson.

In scenes airing on the show this weekend, Amelia performs Katy Perry’s ‘Extraterrestrial’, with Kelly saying afterwards: “Wow! That made me think, Katy who?! She sung that song like oh no, I wrote this! This is my song!”

Janet’s rendition of Christina Aguilera’s ‘Beautiful’ was also a hit, but Kelly admitted she wants the Irish teenager to be less shy.

Last week, it was revealed Sian Phillips had had to leave the competition as she was unable to get a US visa, and tonight Sarah Watson takes her place.

However, Kelly and Jennifer later admit they are unsure whether she is ready for the pressures of the show yet, while they were also left disappointed by Melanie McCabe.

‘The X Factor’ returns to ITV1 tonight.
