Met Eireann has issued a weather warning as gale force winds reaching up to 110 kilometres per hour will lash some parts of the country today.

The warning is for Munster, Leinster, Connacht, Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan, with western coastal counties worst effected.

Spot flooding is also forecast but the showers and winds are expected to ease by 11pm tonight.

However, Met Éireann meterologist Harm Luijkx said a second band of wet and windy weather will cross the country tomorrow.
