Three people have lost their lives on Ireland's roads this bank holiday weekend, bringing the death toll for the year to 244.

Three people have lost their lives on Ireland's roads this bank holiday weekend, bringing the death toll for the year to 244.

A 42-year-old man died when he was hit by a car while out walking on the Ballymun Road in north Dublin on Saturday morning.

A 57-year-old man also died after the car he was a passenger in crashed into a tree in Monamolin, Co Wexford, yesterday evening.

Earlier yesterday, a woman in her 70s died when the car she was driving crashed into a wall near Inverin in Co Galway.
