Fulham have completed the signing of Portsmouth teenager Ryan Williams, the Barclays Premier League club have confirmed.
The 18-year-old Australian has played six times for Portsmouth’s first team but has now left the cash-strapped npower Championship club for an undisclosed fee.
Williams had reportedly attracted interest from West Brom and Aston Villa, but has now signed a deal at Fulham until 2014.
“It’s been a long few days actually, finding out whether or not I was going to be signing,” Williams told Sky Sports News. “But I’ve signed a two-and-a-half-year deal here so I’m really happy to be part of the club, it’s a good club.
“It’s such a big move coming to a Premiership club. It’s just really for my footballing education and playing more games, playing for the reserves and stuff like that.
“It’s just a big step forward for me.”
Williams can play on either wing and was the only transfer activity involving Pompey on deadline day.
He played as a triallist during Fulham reserve’s 1-0 win at Wolves last night before completing the move today.
