Talk show titan Oprah Winfrey will be honoured by the United Nations for her efforts in helping the under-privileged.
The UN will hand the billionaire its Global Leadership Award, for her "initiatives in education".
Winfrey has been very public about her work in South Africa over the years, including building schools and helping children orphaned by the HIV/AIDS virus to receive an education.
One of her projects, The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, is scheduled to open in South Africa in 2007.
She will receive her UN award in a formal ceremony at New York City's Waldorf Hotel on September 30.
