Gardaí appeal for witnesses following fatal collision in Tuam

Gardaí investigating a fatal road traffic collision at Claretuam, Galway yesterday are looking for witnesses of the incident, which involved three cars and a van.

Gardaí investigating a fatal road traffic collision at Claretuam, Galway yesterday are looking for witnesses of the incident, which involved three cars and a van.

A front seat passenger in a car, 80-year-old Mary Shaughnessy was fatally injured in the four vehicle collision which occurred at about 4.30 pm. The car was being driven by her daughter aged in her 60s, who received arm injuries and was removed to University College Hospital Galway.

Another man, a driver of a car aged in his 30s also received injuries and required hospital treatment at UCHG.

Gardaí are asking anyone who was travelling on the N17 in the area of Claretuam on Wednesday 20th June between 4pm and 5pm to contact them at Tuam Garda Station on 093 70840.
