Heineken Cup: Kronfeld a doubt

Former All Black back-row Josh Kronfeld is a major doubt for Leicester’s Heineken Cup semi-final against Llanelli on April 28.

Former All Black back-row Josh Kronfeld is a major doubt for Leicester’s Heineken Cup semi-final against Llanelli on April 28.

Kronfeld has been struggling with a knee injury and will definitely miss the champions’ Zurich Premiership encounter with Leeds at Welford Road on Friday.

‘‘As with all knee ligament injuries, it has plateaued and we are waiting for it to improve again,’’ said Tigers director of rugby Dean Richards.

Ollie Smith and Geordan Murphy are both nearing full fitness and should play some part against the Tykes, who stunned Leicester at Headingley earlier this season but have since slumped to the foot of the table.
