Fine Gael’s Jim Mitchell has failed to retain his seat in Dublin Central.

Fine Gael’s Jim Mitchell has failed to retain his seat in Dublin Central.

It was expected that the deputy leader would challenge strongly in Bertie Ahern’s constituency.

It has emerged that the battle for the last seat went to Fianna Fail’s Dermot Fitzpatrick.

So far, this is the worst election for the opposition in over 25 years.
