Teenager's body found off coast of Clare

The body of a 19-year-old man has been recovered from the sea off Co Clare tonight, the Coast Guard said.

The body of a 19-year-old man has been recovered from the sea off Co Clare tonight, the Coast Guard said.

The youth had been on holiday in Doolin with friends when he went missing overnight.

A search was launched this morning at 5.30am and involved the Doolin, Kilkee and Lahinch Coast Guard units, along with the Shannon-based rescue helicopter.

The body was found at about 7.30pm near Lahinch promenade.

His remains were brought to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Limerick, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out.
