Robert Ogden’s Cheltenham heroes Voy Por Ustedes and Star De Mohaison are set to line up at Aintree, ground permitting.
Irish Independent Arkle winner Voy Por Ustedes is likely to take his chance in the John Smith’s Maghull Novices’ Chase, while Star De Mohaison, who triumphed by six lengths in the Royal & SunAlliance Chase, is being primed for a tilt at the John Smith’s Mildmay Novices’ Chase.
However, Ogden’s racing manager, Barry Simpson, issued a note of caution that the two horses will not go to Liverpool if the going is extreme at either end of the spectrum.
“They have both come out of Cheltenham brilliantly and the only thing stopping us going to Aintree would be the ground,” he said.
“Star De Mohaison is in great nick but he would not want it too soft.
“Alan (King) has likened Voy Por to a lion in that he could roar round Cheltenham again if he wanted.
“The Maghull would be the shout for him but, quite unlike Star De Mohaison, he will not want it extremely quick.
“They should both be going to Aintree though, as long as the going is not extreme.”
On Star De Mohaison, trainer Paul Nicholls told At The Races: “If it is decent ground there is a fair chance he would run and he is in good order.
“He worked nicely this morning and the lad who rides him said he just keeps on improving.
“Next year’s Gold Cup is a long way off and there is a long way to go before that. He would have to improve so lets just see how he gets on.”
