Wales’ European Championship qualifier with Serbia & Montenegro in Belgrade next week has been postponed by UEFA.
The match was due to be played in the Red Star Stadium in Belgrade next Wednesday, but after objections from the Serbian Government, UEFA have agreed to call the game off.
The move comes following discussions in Rome today at UEFA’s congress between Football Association of Wales and Serbia FA officials.
It will now be played on August 20, the first Wednesday after the opening of next season’s Premiership campaign.
Serbia is under a state of emergency following the assassination a fortnight ago of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic, and the Government were unwilling to allow a 50,000 crowd to gather for fear of political demonstrations.
It means Group Nine leaders Wales will now just play their home game with Azerbaijan in Cardiff on Saturday.
