Speculation is linking Tánaiste, Mary Harney, with a move to become Minister for Health in the long-awaited cabinet reshuffle later this week.

Progressive Democrat sources report their leader is seriously considering the move. The Tánaiste is believed to have agreed the posts to be held by PD deputies in the next cabinet with the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern.

Reports in today’s Sunday Times claim she wants to take up the cabinet’s most challenging position.

The Sunday Times also reports that Micheál Martin could move to Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Dermot Ahern could take over the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Brian Cowen is tipped to fill Charlie McCreevy’s shoes in Finance.
