Kathleen Turner hit out at Hollywood today as she spilled the beans on the return of United States hit show Friends.
The Romancing the Stone star said Hollywood was “10 or 15 years behind society” and accused the movie industry of “playing it very safe”, adding that the Oscars were boring.
She said she had been approached about reprising her role as Chandler’s transvestite father, Charles Bing, in a Friends comeback.
It has been reported that the hit TV series will return with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry agreeing £2.8m (€4.1m) each for the shows.
Turner, 51, who is in Britain to perform in the play Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, said it was “possible” that she was going to reprise the role.
The US star added: “I haven’t got any dates yet or anything.”
Asked whether there would be four one-hour specials, she said: “I think so, I hope so. They said it might be happening. I’ve got no details about the story or anything.
“I like the character I play because it’s a woman playing a man playing a woman. We haven’t got any dates set as to when it will happen. That is all I know.”
The stars are said to have agreed a deal with NBC bosses in Los Angeles.
Writers are said to have already started working on scripts for the four double episodes, due to air next year.
Friends became a global smash, running for a decade between 1994 and 2004.
