A teenager was being questioned tonight about the double murder of a couple set on fire at their home in the North.

The 18-year-old suspect was detained in Co Armagh where Thomas O'Hare, 33, and his girlfriend, Lisa McClatchey, 21, were beaten with hammers and doused in petrol.

Both victims died in hospital after fighting for their lives for days following the attack in Foley Road, Tassagh, on November 6.

Six masked intruders are believed to have broken into their home and battered the pair before setting them alight.

An hour after the attack, four men appeared at a hospital across the border in Co Louth with critical burns.

They were later transferred for specialist treatment in Dublin where gardaí are monitoring them.

Detectives in the North are understood to want to question them as soon as they are well enough.

Today's arrest was the latest in a series made by investigating officers in their hunt for the killers.

Another man from Omagh, Co Tyrone, has already appeared in court charged with perverting the course of justice and withholding information in relation to the murder inquiry.
