The ISEQ index of Irish shares had a positive morning today, up 45.36 points to 7531.58.
There were some strong performances, including a 43c surge by Irish Life and Permanent to €17.20.
The other financial stocks saw more modest increases. Bank of Ireland was up 6c to €13.88. The group announced the appointment today head of specialised finance Tom Hayes as chief executive to its corporate banking division following Richie Boucher’s move to the top spot in retail financial services, Ireland.
AIB rose 4c to €18.49 while Anglo Irish Bank saw a 2c rise to €12.97.
Elan saw a 24c hike to €11.90 while food company Greencore rose 16c to €3.70.
There were some minor falls, including a 4c slide to €4.10 for Tullow Oil.
