The former Justice Minister Alan Shatter has said he will donate his €70,000 ministerial severance pay to charity.

Shatter is to donate the money to the Jack & Jill Foundation.

The announcement comes after the Taoiseach called on his former minister to "do the right thing" and return the payments.

The former minister added he has no plans to resign from the Dáil.

“I’m going nowhere,” said Shatter.
