The Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association has said the current dispute at the Department of Agriculture should be resolved under mechanisms contained in the Sustaining Progress partnership deal.

The ICMSA said industrial action by clerical staff at the departments offices in the west is causing serious problems for farmers throughout the country and should be ended as a matter or urgency.

The farming organisation has called on Agriculture Minister Joe Walsh and Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy to engage with the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and the Civil and Public Services Union to resolve the dispute.

The dispute focuses on promotional opportunities and the suspension without pay of 150 CPSU members.
