A forensic examination is being carried out on a black Volvo car recovered by police investigating the murder of a teenager in west Belfast.

Last night, more than 1,000 people gathered in a vigil for murdered 16-year-old Megan McAlorum.

Her body was found in an area of forest, a mile from her home in Lenadoon.

The 16-year-old had suffered severe head injuries.

The police are continuing to question two people over the teenager's murder.

They have been given a further extension to allow them to hold one man arrested on Tuesday.

Mr and Mrs McAlorum, the dead girl's parents, attended last night's vigil along with school friends and workmates who read out poems and tributes.

A post mortem examination was carried out on Tuesday but details have not been released.
