Four injured in Mayo attacks

Gardaí in Mayo are investigating two separate stabbing incidents in Ballinrobe in which four people were injured, one seriously.

Gardaí in Mayo are investigating two separate stabbing incidents in Ballinrobe in which four people were injured, one seriously.

At around 3.30am today two men were attacked by a number of people on New Street in the town.

Both men were rushed to Castlebar General Hospital.

A 32-year-old man was later released but a 27-year-old man was transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin with serious head injuries.

A short time later two other men were attacked by a gang of people and stabbed in the necks on the Neale Road in Ballinrobe.

They were also taken to Castlebar General for treatment.

No arrests have yet been made and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
