Blackburn will be without captain Ryan Nelsen for Sunday’s visit of Portsmouth due to a hamstring injury.

Nelsen aggravated an old injury in yesterday’s UEFA Cup defeat to Larissa and is expected to be out for three to four weeks.

Rovers manager Mark Hughes is hoping Christopher Samba can deputise for Nelsen - eight days after he was concussed by an accidental kick in the head from Andriy Shevchenko in the goalless draw at Chelsea.

Team (from): Friedel, Enckelman, Emerton, Samba, Ooijer, Warnock, Bentley, Dunn, Savage, Pedersen, Santa Cruz, McCarthy, Derbyshire, Roberts, Tugay, Mokoena, Rigters, Khizanishvili, Brown.
