350 jobs confirmed for Cork

A home-grown technical support company has vowed to take on 350 new staff with its latest expansion.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny hailed Voxpro as an Irish success story as it announced plans to increase its workforce in Cork to 850.

“Growing from employing six people to 500 and now adding a further 350 jobs is great news for Cork and contributes to the goal of making the recovery local,” said Mr Kenny.

“Voxpro is to be commended for winning business abroad to support jobs at home.”

The company is Ireland’s largest exporter of multilingual technical support services with multinational customers including Google, Nest and Travelzoo.

The expansion is being backed by the taxpayer through Enterprise Ireland.

Dan Kiely, chief executive with Voxpro, founded the company with his wife Linda 15 years ago.

With five sites in Cork, it now operates in 12 languages and serves more than 100 organisations, mostly global firms.

“As our business expands, we have a very clear focus on attracting international business partners and these new highly skilled, technical roles will support our endeavours to secure global clients and become their growth partner in Europe,” said Mr Kiely.

Separately, pharmaceutical company BioMarin said it is to create 50 jobs at its Dublin plant.

The company is recruiting for senior accounting, finance, customer service and marketing positions.
