Gardaí appeal to taxi drivers in murder probe

Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of a Lithuanian in Dublin seven days ago were today trying to trace two taxi drivers who could help provide vital information.

Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of a Lithuanian in Dublin seven days ago were today trying to trace two taxi drivers who could help provide vital information.

Andrius Zakarauskas, aged 27, was attacked at flats in St Joseph’s Villas near the North Circular Road, on November 20, at around 12.15am.

Detectives at Fitzgibbon Street garda station said today they were anxious to talk to two taxi drivers who were stopped at the Texaco service station on the Howth Road, in Raheny, around 2.30am.

The first taxi is a green Skoda Octavia and the second is described as being a navy hatchback.

Gardai appealed to the drivers to contact them at Fitzgibbon Street.

A 22-year-old Lithuanian man was remanded in custody for a week when he appeared at Dublin District Court last Monday on charges in connection with the killing.

He was arrested in Mullingar last Sunday and charged with assault causing serious harm.
