Devitt quits Fine Gael

Fine Gael Councillor Anne Devitt has resigned from the party.

It comes in the wake of the Mahon Tribunal report, which found it was 'entirely inappropriate' for her to have acted as a lawyer for a property developer while also holding down a role as councillor.

She had been due to appear before the party’s Disciplinary Committee and insists her conscience is clear.
