Catholic bishops today launch a DVD to warn schoolchildren about the pitfalls of drink and drugs.

Cardinal-elect Archbishop Sean Brady and Archbishop Diarmuid Martin are among those unveiling the new video in Tallaght, south Dublin.

Find the Balance: Dare to Dream is aimed at senior cycle secondary school pupils and has been sent to schools throughout the country, North and South.

The DVD, and accompanying notes for teachers, explores the concept and relevance of balance and moderation with specific reference to alcohol consumption.

It features five true-life stories alongside commentary from young people to encourage debate and help foster a culture of moderation.

Bishop Eamonn Walsh, Vice-Chairman of the Irish Bishops’ Drug and Alcohol Initiative, will also attend the launch at Tallaght Community School.
