The author of an ESRI report on the Government's waste policy has said he stands over his work.
The report, commissioned by Dublin City Council, backed the controversial Poolbeg incinerator, saying there was no coherent reason to move away from the policy of building such facilities.
Environment Minister John Gormley, who opposes the Poolbeg plan, claimed the ESRI had been used by the council and the company behind the proposal in a PR strategy.
The Green Party leader said the report was not independent, but Professor Paul Gorecky of the ESRI denies the accusation.
He insisted the report "was undertaken as an independent piece of research".
"It's our work," he said.
