Woman found unconscious on roadside dies in hospital

A woman who was discovered unconscious on a roadside on the Louth-Meath border more than a week ago has died.

A woman who was discovered unconscious on a roadside on the Louth-Meath border more than a week ago has died.

The woman, who was in her early 20s, had sustained serious head injuries and she lost her fight for life in Beaumont hospital in Dublin early this morning.

She was found on the Slane Road outside Drogheda on Friday July 28.

Gardaí had been hoping to interview the woman, who was from the area, to find out what happened to her.

It is expected that a post mortem examination will be carried out later today.
