The French Football Federation have refused to comment on the severity of the knee injury suffered by Louis Saha in France’s 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands.

The 26-year-old Manchester United striker, who has scored twice in seven internationals, was replaced in the eighth minute of last night’s match in Torshavn by Liverpool forward Djibril Cisse.

A spokesman for the FFF said: “Louis has already gone back to Manchester.

“His job with the French national team is over for now so he will see with his club what the next stage is.”
