Èducation Minister Ruairi Quinn is to review a budget decision to slash resources for disadvantaged schools, which would include teacher cuts.

A number of Labour backbench TDs had expressed concerns about the proposal, which came under renewed focus as the Dáil returned from the Christmas break yesterday.

Last night Minister Quinn said his Department would prepare a report in the coming weeks, assessing the impact of the cuts on the schools in a case-by-case basis.
